All persons occupying or having control of any house or building fronting or facing any of the streets or public avenues of the city are hereby required to number the same in conformity to the provisions of this article.

Main Street shall be the dividing line between all streets and alleys running north and south. Fourth Street shall be the dividing line between all streets and alleys running east and west. All of the streets running east and west from Main Street shall be designated east or west; for example, East First Street, West First Street. All streets running north or south from Fourth Street shall be designated north or south; for example, North McGee Street, South McGee Street.

The number on all houses and buildings on all streets running east and west shall originate from Main Street and shall be separately numbered from each other; for example, 101 East First Street, 101 West First Street. The number on all buildings on all streets running north and south shall originate from Fourth Street and shall be separately numbered from each other for example, 101 North McGee Street, 101 South McGee Street. The system of numbering shall be 100, each succeeding block commencing the succeeding hundred, the unit representing the number of the building in the block alternating the numbering of the buildings on both sides of the street. On street extending west and east, even numbers on south side of the street and odd numbers on the north side of the street. On streets extending north and south, even numbers on west side of the street and odd numbers on east side of the street.

The figures of each number shall be not less than four inches (4”) in height and shall be legible and conspicuously placed on the front of each house or building. Every house or building which may hereafter be erected facing or fronting on any of the streets or avenues of the city shall be numbered by the owner, occupant or agent of the owner as provided in this article prior to occupancy or use.
