A CHARTER ORDINANCE EXEMPTING THE CITY OF CANEY, KANSAS, FROM THE PROVISIONS OF K.S.A. 1995 SUPP. 79-502(9), AS AMENDED, AND PROVIDING SUBSTITUTE AND ADDITIONAL PROVISIONS ON THE SAME SUBJECT.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF CANEY, KANSAS:

SECTION l.      The City of Caney, Kansas, by the power vested in it by Article 12, Section 5, of the constitution of the state or Kansas, and as provided by K.S.A. 1995 supp. 79-503(6)(a), hereby elects to exempt itself from the provisions of K.S.A. 1995 Supp. 79-502(8), as amended, part or an enactment commonly known as the Kansas Property Tax Lid Law, which enactment applies to this city but does not apply uniformly to all cities.

SECTION 2. The following is hereby substituted for the provisions of K.S.A. 1995 Supp. 79-502(8), as amended: The provisions of K.S.A. 1995 supp. 79-502(1) to 79-503(4), inclusive, and amendments thereto shall not limit the levy of taxes by the governing body of the City of Caney.
