CHAPTER 1. ADMINISTRATIONCHAPTER 1. ADMINISTRATION\Article 11. Sunnyside Cemetery Committee

For the purpose of overseeing the operation of the Caney-Sunnyside Cemetery, there is hereby created a Sunnyside Cemetery Committee. The committee shall have the authority to oversee and review the operation of the Sunnyside Cemetery of Caney, Kansas; to propose internment fees, lot and perpetual care fees, stone set fees, and general regulations governing the operation of the Cemetery for approval by the City Council of the City of Caney, Kansas.

The Committee shall consist of eight members and the current City employee assigned as sexton of the cemetery. The members shall be appointed by the Mayor, by and with the consent of the council. One of the members shall be appointed by the Mayor, by and with the consent of the council. One of the members shall be appointed as chairman of the committee, and one of the members shall be appointed as its secretary. The members heretofore appointed shall serve a term which shall expire on July 6, 1990. Thereafter, all members appointed shall serve a term of two years. All members shall serve without compensation, except for the secretary, whose salary shall be fixed from time to time by Ordinance. Vacancies on the committee shall be filled by appointment for the balance of the unexpired term only.

The members of the Sunnyside Cemetery Committee shall meet as necessary and shall maintain a proper record of all the proceedings of the committee. A majority of the members of the committee shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business.

The committee shall report to the governing body upon its activities as necessary, and in all events shall report to the governing body when it proposes to change any fees or when it proposes to amend, modify, delete, or supplement any regulations governing operation of the Sunnyside Cemetery.
